“There is no place like home.” Thats what they said before leaving. But is that what they are saying now? They have left Nigeria for another country for whatever reasons but are finding it difficult to come back home.
At some points, this is alright, but at a lot of other points, is it right? For a man to leave his wife and children in Nigeria, in the name of education abroad and then refuse to look back at home. Is it right? For a young lady, to leave her good future here for a low life in Europe, America? Nowadays, South Africa?
While we have a lot of Nigerians who are outside this country, seldom come home, but communicate very well. We have a lot that would not just communication.
Lets discuss.

Some people are hell bent on "traveling", and they believe nobody can make it in Nigeria. This is done to the extent that people neglect their families here to search for "greener pastures". its causing a brain drain and most of our professionals in this country have left the country too. its not too good. we should stay in this country and develop it ourselves. besides, why should i leave my loved ones here to be treated as a second class citizen somewhere else?

I don't anything wrong in people traveling but it disgust when they don't plan coming home though Nigeria itself is not encouraging but you've got to come home, Personally I see myself going out there to gather some knowledge, exposure, and what have you like the likes of Okonjo Oweala, and other well meaning Nigerians who have made names for themselves. We've got a lot of opportunities in Nigeria. The main point is believing in yourself. We can make the change happen men. Peace

I left a well paying job in a bank to go abroad. I had my kids here and was debating a return to nigeria but my husband wont even consider it. One of our kids has a disability and gets respite care from social services outside of school hours for 15hrs a week. because we work and have another child, we get paid to spend quality time with the other kid. We use the money to pay for an au pair. the older guy gets free transport to and from school. We dont have to generate our own electricity, get our own water or tar our roads ourselves. life is exhausting enough. my workplace has a legal duty to be flexible with us so i get to work from home some days. Even my director rushes home twice a week because it's his turn to put his kids to bed and read them a bedtime story. my husband does the bathing and dressing of the kids, and the ironing and no one bats an eyelid because it's not unusual.
I have never had to pay for hospital care or prescription for the kids. my employer reorganised during my 9 month maternity leave and had a legal duty to offer me a job before others in my department or face sex discrimination charges. It's not massively different from the lifestyle I would have had in naija but the responsibility to provide that quality is split between ourselves, the school, the local authority, the employer, govt etc so that life is less stressful.
For those who I have met who work as cleaners over here, the gap between that quality of life and how a cleaner in naija will live is even greater and it pays them better to stay here. The really suffering ones may be the illegals because they're not entitled to things and cant usually report substandard provision. if you want to go by force and overstay or be illegal, i'd say don't do it. it's so not worth it.

I do have a sister that experience that, she had married the man and had a kid before the guy travelled out on the excuse that l want to go and survey for 3 months, 3moths turned to 2 years, and he came back apologised no communication and trust now she forgave him, and before he left she got pregnant and delivered the baby after the guy travelled again, to be back in the next one month and the one month turned to 7 years, no communication again, and after waited for the 8th year she married and the guy surfaced again, apologising raining fire and brimstone but the deed had been done the lady said no going back, he can go ahead and marry whom he wanted to marry, but they are still on it .

Be where God says you should be. Ie, seek the face of God in all aspects of your life including where you should live, settle and make your home, raise your kids etc.It could be home or abroad, for a while or a season. There is no straight answer. Remain within the bounds where Gods love will reach you. This is so important…. Bishop Oyedepo I heard say…If you are a lizard in Nigeria, you will not become an alligator when you travel abroad.
