Nigeria is 49! If you were to given the opportunity to advice the President, what would it be?

Wednesday, September 30, 2009, 16:22

1st of October 2009 is almost here and its going to be 49 years since our independence. As Nigerians, we have a lot of things on our mind that we wish that are implemented. Today, we discussed about those things.

A lot of people called in. Some were not happy with the current administration. While some said prayers for the country. Some advised the president to forget about the 7 point agenda and focus on roads, light and education.

While it is clear that we are moving forward in Nigeria but rather too slowly, a lot of callers made it clear that the task of moving Nigeria forward is a function of values expected from the citizens.

Well, whatever you own opinion is, be sure others are reading this (listening to the radio programme), even government officials, lets hear your own opinion and lets join hands in moving Nigeria forward.

Nigeria is 49! What do you want to say to her? Call 01-2772923 or 01-2773923 or text 33923

My advice to this administration is to focus on three things.

    ONE
Credible electoral system with unbiased legal college to pursue and discharge any case that may arise meritorously.
-there should be freedom of information
    -re-orintation of police force
-option-A4 can be improved to exclude secret ballot

    TWO
Free, compulsory, qualitative education to secondary level and minimal tution for undrgraduate to enlighten pupulis on national vision and expectation from every citizen
-everyone must be made to obey simple rules
-adhere to standard that garantee good behaviour
-a humane and corrective sanctions/reprimands to defaulters

    THREE
    Efficient and affordable electic power.
-this will empower private sector and help stire the economy inline with well atticulated goals and vision.
-rural electrification should be given priority to cub rural-urban migration and encourage community growth.
-robust pay-as-you-go billing system should be used to recover all power cost incured by consumers.

NIGERIA CAN MAKE IT…WE EXCEL ON ANY TASK IF WE WANT
    ………………….GOD BLESS NIGERIA…………HAPPY 49TH YEARS

    Nigeria at 49
    - If you are to advice the president/government, what will it be

It is very easy for any individual to point accusing fingers at the government
and say that the leaders of this country have not lived up to expectations
in terms of making the country a better place for Nigerians to live in
and for foreigners to visit and invest in. We all tend to forget the tender age
of this country and compare ourselves to European countries, USA and other
world powers who are hundreds of years old compared to baby Nigeria who is only
49 years come oct 1st. The common saying “Rome was not built in a day” should also
apply to Nigeria as a country, yes there is corruption sweeping through the land,
yes there is misuse of funds and resourses, yes there are Religeous facts and
political militant insurgents creating an illusion of fear in the minds of the
Populace, but my fellow Nigerians i can assure youn all that all the strong
powers of the world have been through and are still going through these setbacks.

So my advice to the presidency will be to always keep the vision of a better
Nigeria in mind, and bring to book all those who oppose this motion, indegineous
and foreign. They say if thehead is corrupt, the whole body will be also corrupt
thus, the purging process should begin from the government itself…..because
then and only then will the country be fit to rid itself of every scum that eats
into the very democracy in which we stand on.

Happy birthday Nigeria…if i had a gift for you it would be to play my part in making
this land a better place, safer place for me and my generation to come….but in the end
that would be a gift to my self in return.
